The new ‘Learning & Development’ (L&D) initiative involves Microlearning i.e. providing small learning units and short-term learning activities. The company has chosen comic strips as its avenue to break down complex subjects such as data protection and privacy, cyber security, etc for training. The three comic characters namely Bruce, Bella & Captain Firewall are integrated as part of the comic strips to help employees learn about the intricacies of retirement plan industry and technology trends in a simpler manner.

So far, about 90% of the employees are benefitted from the new L&D initiative andare enjoying their lessons through microlearning nuggets. The company has also witnessed a rise in participation in microlearning based training sessions compared to the traditional methods.

The year-long initiative has been divided into 12 learning modules for each month. The comic strip is circulated among the employees through the company newsletter every week. As an extension to this, Congruent has included gamification in the form of a monthly quiz to help employees to measure their learning.
